CMU Student Broadcasters Recognized

Five student broadcasters from Central Methodist University’s KCMU Eagle Radio station have been awarded in statewide competition by the Missouri Broadcast Educators Association.

MBEA is an affiliate of the Missouri Broadcast Association, and includes 13 member colleges and universities in the state. It sponsors a Student Media contest annually.

CMU broadcasters claimed honorable mention in three separate categories, according to Dr. Kristin Cherry, associate professor of communication and faculty sponsor of Eagle Radio.

In the Commercial category, senior communication major Nicholas Foland of Fayette received honorable mention for his “Randomizer show promo.”

Foland, Zoey Glasgow (senior communication major from Moberly), and Brett Knese (senior communication major from High Ridge) garnered honorable mention in the News Show category for their Oct. 19, 2016 “This Week at CMU” show. It’s a weekly news show that airs on several area stations as well.

In the Sports Show category, a fall production entitled “Major League Baseball Post-Season Recap” gained honorable mention accolades. It was produced by sophomore communication major Riley Richarz (New Berlin, Wisc.) and former CMU student Matt Tegtmeier.
