CMU Service Day To Benefit Community

Each spring, Central Methodist University students, faculty, and staff take a day to put everyday obligations aside, and make a difference in the community through service projects.

Sponsored by CMU’s Center for Faith and Service, Service Day encourages individuals to engage in volunteer activities in support of a variety of causes. Job tasks can include everything from highway clean-up to raking leaves, and painting to charity work.

“It is very important that we create a positive bond with our community, and Service Day provides the avenue we need to do just that,” said Cassandra Nappier, CMU coordinator for civic engagement and student programming. “We hope this opportunity inspires self-growth and leadership within all who participate."

Classes at CMU are called off on Thursday, April 6 to provide individuals with the flexibility they need to be involved with the service projects.

Many large-group activities are already planned for Fayette and surrounding areas, but individuals or businesses who would like to be considered for assistance are welcome to inquire.
