Senior vocalist Anthony Mintert, a tenor, will present his senior music recital on Friday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 in the Willie Mae Kountz Recital Hall at Central Methodist University in Fayette.
He will be joined by several other friends from CMU’s Swinney Conservatory of Music. The recital is free and open to the public.
Mintert is a senior music education major from O’Fallon. He is currently doing his student teaching in Hallsville. He has been a member of CMU’s elite Chorale vocal group, a member of the Church Street Boys, and in various operas.
His program will include “La ci darem la mano” by Mozart from Don Giovanni, a duet with recent vocal graduate Britney Kelcher ’16, soprano. He will also perform “Monostatos Aria” from The Magic Flute by Mozart.
In French, Mintert will perform “Plaisir d’amour” by Jean-Paul Martini, plus works by composers Caldara and Scarlatti.
His English pieces will be by composers Vaughn Williams and Aaron Copland.
Joining Mintert in his recital will be the Conservatory’s Flute Choir and Brass Quintet. The Flute Choir will perform Debussy’s “Golliwog’s Cakewalk” and the Welsh melody “All Through the Night,” arranged by Fred Allen.
The Brass Quintet will perform “Vuelta del Fuego” by Kevin McKee.
Britney Kelcher will return to sing “Tornami a vagheggiar” from the opera Alcina by Handel.
Members of the Flute Choir include Ki-Jana Blount (senior criminal justice major from St. Robert), Kaitlyn Gebhardt (senior music education major from Columbia), Cheyenne Knecht (sophomore chemistry major from Lawson), Mikaela Lewis (sophomore music education major from Harrisburg), Josh Miller (junior music education major from Waynesville), Samantha Shively (junior music education major from Hunnewell), Haley Thoma (sophomore music education major from Boonville), and Denise Weigand (senior physics major from Weatherby).
The Brass Quintet is comprised of Kody Bartel, trumpet (sophomore music major from Yorktown, Va.); Katelyn Hanvey, trumpet (senior music education major from Centralia); Susan Bishop, horn (senior music education major from Fayette); Kevin Helmerichs, trombone (junior music education major from Lake Ozark); and Gannon Craig, tuba (junior music education major from Salem).
The content of this concert will provide a variety of music for every listener.
