Kasey TannerKasey Tanner from Cadiz, Ohio, has been named the new assistant professor of applied behavior analysis for Central Methodist University’s College of Graduate and Extended Studies.

In her position, Tanner will teach behavior analysis courses in both Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) course sequences for Central, in online course settings.

“I'm so excited for this opportunity to be a part of growing not only this program, but also the field, of ABA,” Tanner said. “We see the field of ABA [Applied Behavior Analysis] exploding right before our eyes and it's simply astonishing.

“Because the field is growing so rapidly we are charged with providing a quality education to those in the field and I think it's not only important but amazing we can do that exclusively online,” Tanner said. “I'm so excited to join the team!”

Tanner comes to Central from Bethany College in Bethany, W.V., where she has been adjunct professor of autism. Prior to that she worked as a behavior therapist and then a behavior specialist at Augusta Levy Learning Center in Wheeling, W.V.

Tanner provided individual behavior therapy for students of all ages and levels of autism and assisted in the development of behavior intervention plans. She also supervised other staff members.

Earlier experiences included applied behavior analysis in other areas, including the Alpine Autism Center in Colorado Spring, Colo., and East Child Development Center in Fort Carson, Colo.

Tanner has an associate’s degree in health administration and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, both from the University of Phoenix; the Applied Behavior Analysis Certificate from the Florida Institute of Technology; and a master’s degree in applied behavior analysis and autism from Sage Graduate School of Troy, N.Y.

In addition, she has additional hours of training from the Center for Autism and Related Disorders; Relias Learning focusing on ABA therapy and autism; and U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force FCC training.

“We are very excited to welcome Kasey Tanner to Central Methodist University’s online ABA program” said Assistant Dean for Online Programs Stephanie Brink. “She has a lot of energy and is going to be a great addition to our team.”
