Six Resident Hall Assistants Added At CMU

On Central Methodist University’s Fayette campus, student safety and support are top priorities. To help provide that support within the campus residence halls, students are put on the job as resident hall assistants (RAs).

Under the direction of a resident director (RD), RAs facilitate safety and personal growth for on-campus students, which can involve providing emotional, social and physical support. This includes anything from unlocking doors to conversations about home sickness, according to Associate Dean of Students Bradley J. Dixon.

“Resident hall assistants play a vital role in helping students get acclimated to college life,” Dixon said. “I believe we have filled our open positions with six very capable and energetic students who will make the residence life that much better.”

Joining 16 others, the following students have been hired as RAs through the end of the spring semester:

Josh Broadus, a sophomore criminal justice major from Columbia, Mo., who has been assigned to Burford Hall; Quiz Falls, a freshman education and music education major from Marshall, Mo., who has been assigned to Woodward Hall; Carlos Gonzalez-Tabares, a freshman psychology major from Marshall, Mo., who has been assigned to Woodward Hall;

Ethan Lasley, a freshman education and social science major from Grain Valley, Mo., who has been assigned to Woodward Hall; Emilee Long, a freshman nursing major from Lake Saint Louis, Mo., who has been assigned to Holt Hall; and Sydney Philpot, a freshman athletic training major from Joplin, Mo., who has been assigned to Holt Hall.
