A Central Celebration: December Commencement

For the first time in half a century, Central Methodist University held a mid-year Commencement ceremony. The exercise, on Saturday, Dec. 10, recognized more than 300 newly-minted CMU alumni.

Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus in Fayette was filled to capacity as family and friends joined CMU faculty and staff in honoring the mid-year graduates. Twenty-one were awarded Masters degrees and nearly 290 completed their undergraduate programs, according to CMU President Roger L. Drake.

Robert Farr, Bishop of the Missouri Area of the United Methodist Church, delivered the Commencement address entitled “For Such a Time as This.”

Nancy Ellis of Kirkwood brought greetings from the CMU Board of Trustees, while John Coleman of Fayette spoke on behalf of the CMU Alumni Association.
